Lionel Messi has extended his record as the most decorated footballer of all time after inspiring Inter Miami to their first MLS Cup triumph with a 3–1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday.
The 38-year-old Argentine delivered two assists in the final, guiding Miami to a historic championship win and securing the 46th major trophy of his illustrious career. The title also becomes his third since joining the MLS side, following the 2023 Leagues Cup and the 2024 Supporters’ Shield.
With the victory, Inter Miami have become the 16th franchise to lift the MLS Cup in the league’s 30-year history, marking a rapid rise for the club since Messi’s arrival.
