Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly left Saudi Arabia for Madrid amid rising tensions in the Middle East following recent US-Israeli military strikes in Iran.
According to the Daily Mail, the 41-year-old forward departed Riyadh late at night aboard his £61 million ($81 million) Bombardier Global Express 6500 private jet. Flight tracking platform Flightradar24 confirmed that the aircraft took off from Riyadh at 8:00 p.m. and landed in Madrid shortly before 1:00 a.m., traveling over Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea.
Ronaldo, who resides in Riyadh with his partner Georgina Rodriguez and their five children, plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr FC. His departure comes as regional instability intensifies.
Reports indicate that the United States Embassy in Riyadh was struck by two drones overnight, resulting in a limited fire and minor material damage, according to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence. Iranian state media also claimed that a command and staff building in Bahrain had been destroyed.
The developments follow joint US-Israeli strikes in Iran on February 28, 2026. Iranian state media announced on March 1 that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had been killed in the attacks. Authorities in Tehran declared 40 days of mourning and a seven-day national holiday in response.
While there has been no official statement from Ronaldo regarding his travel, his relocation to Spain comes amid heightened security concerns across the region.
