Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Spanish forward Ferran Torres from Barcelona, with the World Cup winner committing his future to the French champions until 2031.

The 26-year-old attacker will wear PSG’s number nine shirt as he begins a new chapter in his career at the Parc des Princes.

Born in Foios, Spain, on February 29, 2000, Torres started his football journey in futsal before joining the Valencia academy at the age of seven. He progressed through the club’s youth system and made history in December 2017 when he became the first player born in the 21st century to appear in La Liga, making his debut against Eibar.

Torres spent three seasons with Valencia, making 97 appearances and establishing several records. He became the youngest player in the club’s history to reach 50 league appearances and was also the first player born in the 21st century to score for a Spanish club in the Champions League.

His first major trophy came in 2019 when Valencia won the Copa del Rey.

His performances attracted interest from Manchester City, and Torres moved to the Premier League club in 2020, joining Pep Guardiola’s side. He scored his first goal for City in an EFL Cup match against Burnley, shortly after making his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

During his time in England, Torres helped Manchester City reach the 2021 Champions League final and contributed to their Premier League and League Cup successes. He made 43 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals and registering four assists.

Torres subsequently returned to Spain, joining Barcelona during the 2021–22 winter transfer window.

At Camp Nou, the forward — nicknamed “El Tiburón,” meaning “The Shark” — developed into an important attacking player. PSG said he made 207 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 65 goals, including a crucial goal in the 2025 Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid that helped force the match into extra time.

He collected three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups during his Barcelona career.

Torres has also enjoyed considerable success with Spain. After representing the country at youth level, he won the European Under-17 Championship in 2017 and the Under-19 European Championship in 2019.

He made his senior international debut under Luis Enrique in 2020 during a Nations League match against Germany and has since earned 65 caps.

The forward represented Spain at Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, before winning the UEFA Nations League in 2023 and helping Spain claim the European Championship in 2024.

Torres added another major international honour this summer when Spain won the World Cup in North America. PSG said he scored the decisive goal in extra time as Spain defeated Argentina in the final, earning the Man of the Match award and helping La Roja secure a second World Cup star.

Speaking after completing his move to Paris, Torres expressed his excitement about joining the French champions.

“I’m delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris Saint-Germain,” Torres said.

“I’d like to thank President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos and coach Luis Enrique for giving me the opportunity to join the team, which I hope to help win as many trophies as possible.”

Torres will now link up with Luis Enrique again at PSG as he looks to add more domestic and European honours to an already decorated career.

The Spanish forward is contracted to the Paris club until 2031.
