President
Bola Tinubu is set to preside over the swearing-in ceremony for his recently
appointed ministers on Monday, August 21st. This comes subsequent to the
allocation of portfolios to the ministerial appointees, a disclosure made by
the Presidency on Wednesday, August 16th.
The formal
communication was relayed through a press release signed by Willie Bassey and
conveyed by George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The
swearing-in event is scheduled to take place at 10:00 am in the State House
Conference Centre located in Abuja. Prior to this, there will be a retreat
conducted by the Office of the SGF.
On the same
Wednesday, the Presidency revealed the specific roles and responsibilities that
each minister will undertake, unveiling the portfolios of the ministerial
appointees. It’s worth noting that the portfolio of the Minister of Petroleum
Resources was conspicuously absent from the list, and indications suggest it
might be retained by the president.
An
interesting development emerged as Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor
of Kaduna State, did not successfully pass the ministerial screening conducted
by the Senate.
