
In a tragic incident in the Ebute-Metta area of Lagos State on Friday morning, a one-storey building collapsed, leaving a baby and several unidentified adults trapped beneath the rubble. The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, officially confirmed the distressing situation in a released statement.
According to the statement, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service swiftly responded to the emergency, which was reported at 09:00 hours at 122, Herbert Macaulay Way, Lagos Bus Stop, Ebute Meta, Lagos. The collapsed building, described as a one-storey structure with a penthouse, has resulted in two adults and a baby, all females, being trapped. Search and rescue operations are currently underway to extricate the individuals from the wreckage.
The statement further conveyed, “However, an adult female has been rescued alive in stable condition as the State Emergency Response fully activated.” The rescue teams are actively engaged in efforts to locate and rescue the remaining trapped individuals, with a focus on ensuring their safety and well-being.
