The University of Abuja is set to confer First Class degrees upon 41 out of its 9,172 graduating students during its 28th convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2024.
Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, revealed this during a pre-convocation briefing held on Thursday in Abuja. He provided a comprehensive breakdown of the graduating class, indicating that 6,237 students would graduate from the regular program, 971 from the Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education, and 688 from the Institute of Education.
Further elaborating on the distribution of graduating students, Prof. Na’Allah stated that out of the undergraduate cohort, 41 achieved First Class honors, 1,845 secured Second Class Honours (Upper Division), 4,842 attained Second Class Honours (Lower Division), 1,075 received Third Class Degrees, 50 obtained Pass Degrees, 43 completed MBBS degrees, 151 earned Ph.Ds, 742 acquired Masters Degrees (including professional Masters), and 383 completed post-graduate Diplomas.
In total, the university is expected to award degrees to 9,172 graduands across various programs.
Prof. Na’Allah also highlighted the institution’s recent achievements, including the establishment of four new facilities and the unbundling of the Mass Communication department into seven distinct departments. Additionally, he announced that the Central Bank of Nigeria has granted approval for the commencement of the university’s micro-finance bank.
The convocation ceremony represents a significant milestone for the graduating students and underscores the university’s commitment to academic excellence and institutional development.
