The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) has addressed reports that claimed musician Burna Boy covered all medical bills for patients during his recent visit. The hospital clarified that Burna Boy only paid the bills for selected patients, not all patients as some reports suggested.
The hospital’s spokesperson explained that while Burna Boy’s generosity in assisting certain patients financially is commendable, it is important to set the record straight about the extent of his contributions.
“We commend Burna Boy’s kindness in financially assisting select patients in our hospital to offset their bills during his visit on June 11,” the spokesperson stated. “However, contrary to reports stating that all patient’s bills in UPTH were paid during the visit, only selected patients received cash gifts or donations. The hospital did not receive direct payments from the musician and his team on behalf of patients to support this worthy cause of reducing healthcare costs.”
The spokesperson praised Burna Boy’s charitable act and his effort to help those in need within the society, while emphasizing the need for accurate reporting on such acts of kindness.
