DALLAS, TEXAS — From making audiences laugh to touching lives through humanitarian service, Nigerian-born international entertainer, comedian, producer and philanthropist Charles Edobor, popularly known as Edo Charles, has added another major achievement to his remarkable career.

The highly celebrated entertainer has been conferred an Honorary Doctorate by Elevate Christian University in recognition of his contributions to entertainment, humanitarian service, community development and his innovative use of comedy as a vehicle for positive social change.
The prestigious recognition marks another milestone in Edo Charles’ more than two decades in the entertainment industry. He is the founder and CEO of Edo Charles Entertainment LLC and the creative force behind the popular multicultural family comedy show, Enter D Lafta.
But for Edo Charles, the spotlight has never been solely about entertainment.
Over the years, he has built a reputation as an entertainer who believes laughter can open doors to compassion, unity and meaningful community engagement. Through comedy shows, live events and charitable initiatives, he has consistently used his influence to support individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
His humanitarian activities have included prison comedy outreaches, free medical assistance, charitable donations and community giveaways. Through Enter D Lafta, he has also surprised members of his audience with life-changing gifts, including cars and other valuable prizes at shows across the United States.
Beyond the stage, Edo Charles has also been recognized for pioneering the use of comedy in church settings. By combining clean, inspirational comedy with Christian outreach, he has created opportunities for audiences to enjoy entertainment while engaging with messages centered on faith, hope and transformation.
Over the years, his programs have brought hundreds of people together in spaces where entertainment and Christian fellowship intersect.
Reacting to the honorary doctorate, Edo Charles described the recognition as a tribute not only to his personal journey but also to the people, communities and supporters who have been part of his story.
“This recognition is not just about me. It reminds me that our gifts become more meaningful when we use them to bring happiness, hope and opportunities to others. I am deeply grateful to Elevate Christian University for this honor and to everyone who has supported my journey over the years.”
Edo Charles founded Enter D Lafta in Nigeria in 2002 before taking the brand to the United States, where it has grown into a multicultural entertainment platform celebrating comedy, family, culture, diversity and community.
The show has provided a stage for entertainers from different cultural backgrounds while creating opportunities for networking, recognition, entertainment and charitable giving.
With the honorary doctorate now added to his list of accomplishments, Edo Charles’ story continues to evolve from that of a comedian and entertainer into that of an entrepreneur, community advocate and humanitarian.
For him, however, the honor is not a finish line.
Instead, it serves as fresh motivation to continue doing what he has built his career around: making people laugh, inspiring communities, creating opportunities and giving back to society.
