President Bola Tinubu has expressed condolences to the government and people of Saudi Arabia following a series of attacks on the country by Houthi militia operating from Yemen.
The President conveyed his sympathy in a letter delivered by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, to the Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Balawi, during a meeting at the minister’s office.
In the letter, Tinubu strongly condemned the attacks, which reportedly claimed several lives and caused damage to physical infrastructure and critical installations across Saudi Arabia.
The Nigerian leader also extended his condolences to Saudi Arabia’s Prime Minister and Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, as well as the government and citizens of the kingdom over the losses suffered.
While presenting the letter, Enikanolaiye stressed that peace remained the only viable path to resolving conflicts, urging parties in the region to reject violence and embrace peaceful coexistence.
In response, Ambassador Al-Balawi expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for his solidarity, words of consolation and firm condemnation of terrorism and attacks by rebel groups against legitimate governments.
He also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting regional and international peace and security.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by Richard Elesho, Special Adviser on Media and Strategic Communications to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
