Feyenoord Rotterdam has officially announced Robin van Persie as the club’s new head coach, ushering in a new chapter for the Eredivisie giants. The appointment marks a homecoming for the former Dutch international, who began his professional career at the club before going on to enjoy a distinguished playing career.
In a statement released on Sunday, Feyenoord confirmed the news, welcoming Van Persie back to De Kuip in his new managerial capacity. “The next chapter starts here. Robin van Persie, welcome home again,” the club said.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Van Persie has signed a contract that will see him lead the Rotterdam-based side until June 2027. The Dutchman will be supported by René Hake, a former assistant to Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who joins his coaching staff.
“Robin van Persie signs today as Feyenoord’s new head coach until June 2027. Former Erik ten Hag assistant René Hake will join his staff too,” Romano shared on X (formerly Twitter) last Friday.
Van Persie, who played for Feyenoord, Arsenal, and Manchester United, takes over the club’s managerial role at a time of high expectations. Having previously worked with Feyenoord’s youth teams, the 40-year-old is now set to make his mark at the senior level.
With the Dutch club aiming to build on recent domestic and European successes, Van Persie’s appointment signals a commitment to both continuity and innovation as Feyenoord looks to challenge for further silverware in the coming seasons.
