Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State made a resolute
declaration that his state and its residents
would not comply with any illegal
sit-at-home orders. This firm stance was taken in response to the state
government’s directive, instructing residents to disregard any sit-at-home
order issued by unauthorized individuals or groups within the state.
The governor’s message was conveyed through a statement
released by his Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, on a Thursday. In the
statement, it was emphasized that this decision was prompted by a recent
sit-at-home order issued by Simon Ekpa, which the state government deemed
illegal. The government urged the people of Anambra State not to yield to such
directives from non-state actors and emphasized that any compliance with such
orders should not be attributed to themselves.
The statement expressed in no uncertain terms that the
citizens of Anambra State and the entire South East region should completely
disregard any such directives. The government was resolute in asserting that
the imposition of sit-at-home orders by unauthorized individuals or groups was
a blatant violation of the law. Governor Soludo made it clear that Anambra
State would never observe any sit-at-home order, emphasizing that markets,
schools, businesses, and all other social activities would remain open and
operational.
Furthermore, Governor Soludo vowed that Anambra State would
never become a fertile ground for anarchy, fear, or lawlessness. The
government’s strong statement demonstrated its commitment to maintaining law
and order within the state and ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of
essential services and daily life activities.
