A young Nigerian cyclist, Bello Muhammad, from Kebbi State, has earned international recognition after setting a Guinness World Record for riding a bicycle measuring 2.9 metres in height without assistance.
Muhammad reportedly achieved the feat on September 22, 2026, in Kebbi State, demonstrating remarkable balance, determination and technical skill while riding the unusually tall bicycle.
The achievement was celebrated at the Kebbi State Government Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, where government officials praised the cyclist for showcasing the creativity and potential of Nigerian youths.
The Patron of the Kebbi State Equity Cyclist Association, Abubakar Kalgo, said Muhammad personally fabricated the bicycle and successfully demonstrated his ability to mount, ride and dismount it without assistance.
Kalgo presented the Guinness World Records certificate to the state government, represented by the Head of Service, TPL Malami Shekare.
Receiving the certificate on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris, Shekare congratulated Muhammad on the accomplishment, describing it as an inspiring demonstration of how perseverance, innovation and determination can transform talent into extraordinary achievements.
In recognition of the cyclist’s accomplishment, Shekare also donated N1 million to Muhammad.
He noted that the achievement highlighted the importance of investing in young people and creating opportunities for them to develop their skills and pursue their ambitions.
Muhammad’s record-breaking feat has also drawn attention to the ingenuity of young people in Kebbi State, particularly their ability to develop innovative projects through creativity and practical technical skills.
The achievement is expected to inspire other young Nigerians to explore their talents, embrace innovation and pursue opportunities that could earn them recognition both nationally and internationally.
