On-Air Personality Mayowa Lambe has issued a cease-and-desist notice to her estranged husband, media figure Robert Ekpenyong Ekpo, demanding a public retraction and ₦100 million in damages over alleged defamatory statements made about her on a podcast.
The notice, dated April 22 and signed by legal counsel K. Umoh Esq., was shared via the official X account of Yolanda George-David, founder of Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation. Acting through the foundation’s legal department, Lambe is seeking immediate action to halt further publication of the claims.
According to the document, Ekpo has been directed to remove all allegedly defamatory content across his platforms, issue a clear and public apology using the same channels, and pay ₦100 million as damages. He has also been warned that failure to comply within 48 hours could result in legal proceedings, including claims for aggravated damages and possible criminal complaints.
The dispute stems from Ekpo’s appearance on an episode of The Honest Bunch, where he made a series of allegations regarding the breakdown of his marriage to Lambe. His claims included accusations of infidelity, deception, and financial strain throughout their relationship.
The couple, who married in 2015 after meeting on social media, had largely kept their relationship private until recent reports suggested Lambe had remarried in Texas, United States. Ekpo, in the podcast, expressed shock over the development and detailed personal grievances about their marriage.
In response, the legal notice challenged Ekpo’s account, stating that the marriage had been mutually dissolved with the knowledge of both families prior to May 2025. It further accused him of engaging in a “deliberate and sustained campaign of falsehood” intended to damage Lambe’s reputation.
The document also asserted that Lambe possesses evidence contradicting Ekpo’s claims, including records of financial contributions, efforts to support his relocation abroad, and medical documentation related to fertility matters.
Lambe’s legal team argued that Ekpo’s statements have caused reputational harm and emotional distress, while also exposing her to online harassment fueled by what they described as misleading narratives.
As of the time of reporting, Ekpo had not publicly responded to the allegations or the legal demands. Meanwhile, the controversy continues to generate mixed reactions across social media platforms, with public opinion sharply divided.
