Eight individuals who were stranded in a cable car suspended
above a ravine in Pakistan

have all been successfully saved from their
predicament.

As night fell, a portion of the trapped group was airlifted
to safety by helicopter, while the rest were lowered to the ground using a zip
line.

The acting prime minister of the country expressed his relief
at the successful rescue, and the interior ministry commended the dedication
and determination exhibited by the rescue team members.

For over 14 hours, the cable car remained suspended in the
air, and rescue teams faced daunting conditions as they endeavored to reach the
stranded group.

In the mountainous terrain, makeshift cable cars are commonly
employed, and on this occasion, children inside the car were en route to school
when the cables unexpectedly gave way.

Around 7:00 AM local time, the cable car, containing six
children and two adults, became trapped due to the breakage of some of its
cables, leaving it hanging precariously above the ravine.

The first successful helicopter rescue was confirmed at
approximately 6:45 PM local time, raising optimism that the remaining seven
individuals would soon follow suit.

As the evening progressed, several members of the group were
airlifted to safety, while others were transported using a zipline,
capitalizing on the cover of nightfall in the northern regions of Pakistan.

At around 11:00 PM local time, authorities officially
confirmed the safe rescue of all eight people, an achievement lauded by the
army as an operation of unparalleled difficulty.

The United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane
Marriott, paid tribute to the exhaustive efforts of all those involved in the
arduous mission to free the trapped cable car passengers.

Marriott expressed immense relief that the entire group had
been successfully returned to solid ground.

The Pakistani army announced the triumphant conclusion of a
remarkably intricate and demanding rescue operation in the Battagram area. The
army’s Special Services Group (SSG) skillfully extricated the individuals who
had been trapped 600 feet (183 meters) above the ground.

Pilots from both the army and air force showcased
extraordinary skill and professionalism throughout the rescue, with additional
assistance from local cable experts, as outlined in the official statement.

The army’s communication deemed the rescue operation
“unprecedented” and highlighted its unique challenges.
