Popular street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, widely known as Portable, has been arraigned at the Ogun State Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, over allegations of assaulting government officials.
The Ogun State Police Command had declared Portable wanted on February 18 following an alleged attack on three officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA). The officials had visited the singer’s bar on February 5 to enforce regulatory compliance when the incident occurred.
According to reports, the officials attempted to seal Portable’s bar due to a lack of approved permits and insufficient air space. However, the singer allegedly led a group in violently resisting the operation, resulting in injuries to the officials, who later managed to escape.
Following weeks of evasion, Portable surrendered to the police in Lagos on Wednesday. He was subsequently transferred to the Ogun State Police Command and arraigned in court on Thursday to face charges related to the incident.
The police had earlier arrested and arraigned nine of Portable’s associates on a five-count charge, including armed violence, obstruction of duty, felony, assault, and intent to cause harm.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the case has drawn significant public attention, with many closely watching the singer’s fate in light of his history of controversies and legal troubles.
