Lagos APC Slams ADC for Criticizing Tinubu’s Appointments

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has fired back at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its recent criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointments, describing the opposition party’s remarks as unfounded and politically desperate.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday in Lagos, APC’s State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, condemned the ADC’s comments as “a baseless tirade from the political sidelines,” asserting that the opposition party lacks the credibility to challenge the competence and structure of Tinubu’s cabinet.

Oladejo said the ADC’s criticism was “mischievous” and reflective of the party’s long-standing history of political irrelevance and lack of tangible contributions to governance at any level in Nigeria.

“It is regrettable that at a time when President Tinubu is working tirelessly to restructure governance and reposition Nigeria, the ADC chooses to peddle uninformed commentary aimed at undermining a merit-based and inclusive appointment process,” Oladejo stated.

He emphasized that President Tinubu’s appointments so far have demonstrated a clear commitment to national renewal through a blend of competence, regional inclusiveness, and institutional reform. According to him, the appointees include technocrats, experienced administrators, and reform-minded individuals with verifiable track records in both public and private sectors.

“Unlike the ADC—which continues to thrive on recycled slogans without producing any real policy alternatives—President Tinubu and the APC are focused on nation-building, not political optics,” he added.

Taking a swipe at the opposition party’s lack of governance experience, Oladejo challenged the ADC to point to any state, local government, or constituency under its control where it has implemented impactful governance or inclusive leadership.

“It is laughable that a party with negligible electoral impact and no record of governance would attempt to school the President on leadership. Criticism is welcome in a democracy, but the ADC’s rhetoric reeks more of desperation than patriotic intent,” Oladejo said.

The Lagos APC spokesman reiterated the party’s unwavering support for President Tinubu’s leadership, stressing that the administration has maintained national inclusiveness and transparency in its approach to governance.

“The real test of leadership is not in ethnic composition or political affiliation but in the capacity to deliver results and restore public trust. On that score, we remain confident in the vision and direction of this administration,” he affirmed.

Oladejo concluded by urging the ADC to elevate its public engagement and refrain from exploiting ethnic sentiments or political bitterness, especially at a time when Nigeria needs unity, competence, and progress.

“The ADC must rise above political noise-making and present tangible alternatives if it wishes to be taken seriously in Nigeria’s democratic space,” he said.
