King Charles III on Friday received Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Windsor Castle as part of the Ukrainian leader’s latest diplomatic mission to strengthen European support against Russia’s ongoing invasion.
It marked the third meeting between the 76-year-old British monarch and Zelensky this year, underscoring the United Kingdom’s continued solidarity with Ukraine amid mounting international pressure on Moscow.
Upon his arrival at the historic Windsor Castle, Zelensky was accorded a royal salute while Ukraine’s national anthem was played by the Guards’ band, in a ceremony symbolizing Britain’s enduring commitment to Kyiv’s cause.
The Ukrainian president’s visit comes as he intensifies efforts to rally European allies around fresh military and financial assistance for Ukraine’s defence and reconstruction efforts.
Following the Windsor engagement, Zelensky was scheduled to proceed to Downing Street for a private meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where discussions were expected to focus on bolstering Ukraine’s air defences and ensuring sustained humanitarian support.
He is also set to join a virtual “coalition of the willing” conference with other European leaders later in the day, aimed at coordinating new measures to pressure Russia and strengthen Ukraine’s strategic position on the battlefield.
