The Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, became a major political hub early Saturday as thousands of members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) thronged the venue for the commencement of the party’s two-day national convention.
By 8:00 a.m., the stadium was already bustling with activities, with party loyalists arriving in large numbers despite Thursday’s Federal High Court ruling in Abuja ordering a halt to the event. Security operatives were positioned at strategic locations within and around the stadium to ensure order and smooth proceedings.
Sources confirmed that delegates and supporters from the South-East, North, and South-West geopolitical zones had arrived in Ibadan ahead of schedule, securing accommodation across various hotels in the city. The strong presence of party faithful signals unwavering commitment to the convention’s agenda despite legal challenges.
