The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said his life is a testament to God’s power to transform anyone, stressing that no individual is beyond redemption, no matter how troubled their past.
Adeboye, 83, made the remarks on Saturday while ministering on the fifth day of the Holy Ghost Congress 2025 at Redemption City along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State. The week-long programme is themed “God of All Flesh.”
Reflecting on his early years, the cleric noted that many people who knew him as a young man never imagined he would become a Christian, let alone a pastor. He said doubts about his transformation persisted even after he embraced a new life.
Addressing thousands of worshippers, including traditional rulers, Adeboye challenged believers to rethink assumptions about people they consider irredeemable.
“Do you think there is anybody in your family who is too far gone that God cannot save? Do you think there is anyone God cannot turn into a great vessel unto honour?” he asked.
He added, “The man talking to you right now, many people never thought I could be saved. Even if I was saved, they never believed I could become a pastor. I’m not proud of my past; if one can be bad, I was bad.”
The cleric recounted an encounter with a former girlfriend who was shocked when he introduced himself as a pastor after she came looking for one.
“She said, ‘You, a pastor? You mean you will pray and God will answer?’” Adeboye recalled, adding that even former classmates expressed disbelief at how his life had changed.
He also shared a childhood incident involving his uncle’s wife, whom he said once maltreated him, leading him to orchestrate a temporary separation between the couple. According to him, they later reconciled after he became the church’s general overseer, and their children are now pastors in the RCCG.
Emphasising the theme of redemption, Adeboye said God’s grace is sufficient to change any life and urged believers not to give up on anyone.
“There is nobody God cannot save,” he said, calling on Christians to hold firmly to hope and faith in God’s transforming power.
