Legal counsel to the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, Dr. Chris Okafor, has issued a stern warning to self-styled social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, demanding an immediate end to what he described as cyber attacks and defamatory publications against the cleric.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, the pastor’s lawyer, Mr. Maxwell Okpara, accused Otse and a young woman identified as Miss Chi of engaging in cyber bullying, harassment, stalking and criminal defamation targeted at his client. He said the actions were damaging to Pastor Okafor’s reputation, integrity and ministry.
Okpara said the legal team was compelled to address the media following what he described as a renewed wave of false and malicious allegations circulating on social media, including claims that Miss Chi is the biological daughter of Pastor Okafor and that the cleric abandoned his parental responsibilities.
According to him, the allegations are “entirely false, misleading and malicious,” stressing that there is no familial relationship between Pastor Okafor and the young woman. He added that the continued circulation of such claims amounts to deliberate misinformation and cyber incitement.
The lawyer disclosed that a formal warning letter had already been issued to VeryDarkMan, accusing him of using his social media platforms to defame and incite the public against the pastor without making any effort to verify the claims or seek his side of the story.
He further outlined a series of demands made on behalf of his client, including the immediate retraction of all defamatory statements, publication of a written apology in two national newspapers, and the removal of all online content linking Pastor Okafor to claims of paternity or abandonment.
Okpara also challenged the young woman and her sibling to submit themselves for a DNA test at a mutually agreed and reputable facility, noting that the alleged DNA certificate being referenced has not been produced publicly.
Providing background to the dispute, the counsel recounted that Pastor Okafor had previously requested and conducted DNA tests during a past marital crisis, which, he claimed, showed that the children in question were not biologically related to his client. He said the results were in the possession of the children’s mother and urged her to make them public if contrary claims persist.
Despite the outcome of the DNA tests, Okpara said Pastor Okafor had continued to support the children’s education and welfare out of compassion, a gesture he warned should not be misconstrued as an admission of paternity.
He warned that failure by those involved to comply with the demands would leave Pastor Okafor with no option but to pursue all available legal remedies to protect his name and ministry.
The lawyer said the press briefing was aimed at setting the record straight and preventing the further spread of what he described as falsehoods capable of misleading the public.
