Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Obi announced his decision on Wednesday in Enugu, confirming his alignment with the coalition-backed party ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking at the event, Obi said the move was driven by his desire to transform the country and place Nigeria on the path of recovery.
“We are ending this year with the hope that in 2026 we will begin a rescue journey,” he said.
The former presidential candidate also pledged to resist electoral malpractice in the next general election, stressing that such efforts would be pursued strictly within the confines of the law.
“We will resist rigging of elections by every lawful means in 2027,” Obi added.
Further details surrounding the defection and the ADC coalition are expected to emerge in the coming days.
