Sex Scandal: Police Summon Pastor Okafor, Alleged Victims for Questioning

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to commence a probe into multiple sexual misconduct allegations against the Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor.

The directive follows widespread public outrage sparked by allegations against the cleric that have gone viral on social media in recent days.

It was gathered that Pastor Okafor stepped aside from his pastoral responsibilities on New Year’s Day as the controversy intensified, with several women, including Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, publicly accusing him of sexual impropriety.

The cleric had last Sunday offered a public apology to Ogala during a church service, where he knelt on the pulpit, admitted to making past “mistakes,” and asked for forgiveness.

The allegations surfaced shortly after Okafor’s wedding to a new bride, identified as Pearl, on December 16, 2025. The ceremony was reportedly attended by several prominent clerics.

Earlier, the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, had said the police could not arrest the pastor due to the absence of a formal petition from any of the alleged victims. She stated that the command was not aware of any official complaint against Okafor despite the allegations circulating online.

However, following renewed enquiries, including direct communication with the commissioner, Adebisi confirmed on Sunday that CP Jimoh had ordered the SCID to invite the pastor for questioning and also summon the alleged victims for interviews.

“The Commissioner of Police has instructed the SCID to invite the pastor for investigation, even though no formal report has been filed,” the police spokesperson said.

She added that the commissioner also directed that witnesses be identified and invited to provide statements that would aid the investigation. Adebisi further disclosed that she had personally contacted a YouTuber who interviewed some of the alleged victims to obtain links to the witnesses.

The allegations first gained public attention on December 14 after actress Ogala posted emotional videos on her Instagram page, accusing the pastor of engaging in a sexual relationship with her from 2017, which she claimed lasted for nine years.

Ogala alleged that the cleric repeatedly promised to marry her but later married another woman in December 2025. She also accused him of sharing her explicit photos and videos without consent.

The actress further claimed that Okafor contributed to the collapse of her previous marriage and caused her emotional trauma and financial losses. She shared bedroom photos, screenshots of conversations, and videos in which she alleged that the pastor sent her $10,000 in a bid to silence her and shift blame to a rival pastor.

Through her lawyers, Ogala later demanded N1 billion in damages, alleging threats and intimidation following her arrest and detention by the police.

As the controversy deepened, other women also came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct, manipulation and infidelity against the cleric. Among them was his former wife, Bessem Okafor, who accused him of infidelity, deceit and physical abuse.

However, some members of the church, in separate interviews, dismissed the allegations, describing them as attempts by disgruntled individuals to extort money from their pastor.
