Lagos Launches Probe into Death of Nine-Month-Old Twins after Routine Vaccination

The Lagos State Government has ordered a postmortem examination into the death of nine-month-old identical twins, Testimony and Timothy, who reportedly died shortly after receiving routine immunisation at the Ajangbadi Primary Health Centre in Ojo Local Government Area of the state.

Their father, Mr Samuel Alozie, has demanded justice, alleging that the twins became critically ill hours after they were vaccinated on the morning of December 24, 2025, and died in the early hours of Christmas Day.

Alozie, who is also known as Promise Samuel on TikTok, said the children became unusually weak following the injections and developed high fever despite efforts to stabilise them at home. He claimed he administered paracetamol as advised by health workers and bathed the children in an attempt to reduce their temperature, but their condition continued to deteriorate.

“It happened that the immunisation was done on December 24, and by the morning of the 25th, both of them were dead,” Alozie said. “After the injection, they were very weak. They couldn’t eat, play or behave normally. They died at the same time.”

In a viral video circulating on social media, the grieving father was seen displaying the bodies of the twins wrapped in separate body bags, as he questioned the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Alozie also alleged that the nurse who administered the immunisation was unfamiliar and gave the children deworming tablets without seeking his consent. He further rejected claims allegedly made by health workers that food contamination was responsible for the deaths.

“The nurse said it was food bacteria. How can food bacteria kill my children when they have been eating the same food for months without any problem?” he asked.

Appealing for assistance, Alozie called on human rights lawyers and members of the public to support his quest for justice, saying he lacked the financial means to pursue the case alone.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board confirmed that investigations had commenced. The Permanent Secretary of the board, Dr Ibrahim Mustafa, said both the police and the state government were probing the incident.

“We sympathise deeply with the parents. Investigations are ongoing, and we are awaiting the postmortem findings,” Mustafa said in a telephone interview. He noted that the vaccine administered to the twins had been used on many children before and after the incident without similar outcomes.

He disclosed that the bodies of the children had been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital morgue, adding that the findings of the postmortem would be made public once concluded.

However, Alozie expressed concern over the credibility of the investigation, describing it as “government investigating government,” and reiterated his call for independent support to ensure accountability over the deaths of his children.
