Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has carried out a cabinet reshuffle that resulted in the reassignment of his Chief of Staff, Hon. Gani Audu, who has now been nominated as Commissioner for Oil and Gas, pending confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
The development was announced in a statement issued by Government House, which also confirmed the appointment of Hon. Yakubu Musa, formerly Commissioner for Land and Housing, as the new Chief of Staff.
In the same reshuffle, the serving Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. Vincent Osase Uwadie, was redeployed to head the Ministry of Land and Housing.
According to the statement, Yakubu Musa and Vincent Osase Uwadie are to resume their new duties with immediate effect, while Audu will assume his new position only after receiving legislative approval.
Government officials described the changes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and improve administrative efficiency across key sectors of the state.
As Edo State gradually moves toward the 2027 general elections, analysts predict heightened political activity and strategic repositioning within party ranks, with the latest cabinet changes viewed by many as early indicators of deeper political maneuvering within the Okpebholo administration.
