The Israel Defense Forces said Monday it carried out a new wave of airstrikes targeting Iranian military and security infrastructure in central Iran, including missile launch sites and internal security command centres.
According to a statement from the Israeli military, the Israeli Air Force conducted coordinated strikes against what it described as key facilities linked to the Iranian government’s military capabilities.
Among the targets were a rocket engine production facility and several long-range ballistic missile launch sites that Israel said posed a threat to its territory.
The military added that the operation also struck internal security headquarters in the city of Isfahan, as well as a police command centre and other facilities used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the paramilitary Basij force.
In its statement, the Israeli military accused the Internal Security and Basij forces of playing a key role in suppressing civilian dissent in Iran.
“The Internal Security and Basij forces constitute a central arm in the repression of the Iranian civilian population and are responsible for the use of brutal and systematic violence against it,” the statement said.
Israel said the latest strikes were part of a broader campaign aimed at weakening what it described as the “core arrays and foundations” of the Iranian government’s security and military structure.
The attack marked the first Israeli strikes announced since Iran confirmed the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new Supreme Leader late Sunday, following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei.
The developments come amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, raising concerns about further instability across the Middle East.
