China has called for an immediate halt to hostilities in the Middle East following warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump of potential military action against Iran in the coming weeks.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stressed that escalating tensions would not serve the interests of any party involved and warned against further military confrontation.
“Military means cannot fundamentally solve the problem, and the escalation of conflicts is not in the interests of either side,” Mao said, calling on all parties to exercise restraint.
She urged those involved in the crisis to “immediately cease military operations” and prioritize diplomatic efforts to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.
Beijing’s remarks come amid rising concerns over instability in the region, as global leaders weigh the potential consequences of a broader conflict involving Iran.
