Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has insisted that opposition pressure will not derail his administration’s reform plans, pledging to remain focused on governance and national development.
Speaking in Abuja during a meeting with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Tinubu emphasized that his government would prioritize performance, accountability, and long-term progress over political distractions.
The president dismissed suggestions that he could be forced to back down under pressure, stating that he remains committed to fulfilling the mandate given to him by Nigerians.
“They want to scare me off? It is a lie,” Tinubu said, stressing that his political experience has prepared him to withstand opposition tactics.
He noted that nation-building requires unity and resilience, adding that Nigeria’s development depends on the collective efforts of its citizens rather than external influence.
Tinubu also highlighted the importance of upholding the rule of law, warning against disregard for court orders and emphasizing respect for the judiciary as essential to democracy and stability.
In a veiled critique of opposition leaders, the president questioned their past performance in public office, arguing that some critics had failed to deliver meaningful results during their time in power.
He reiterated that his administration remains committed to implementing reforms inherited from the previous government under Muhammadu Buhari, including both its assets and challenges.
Earlier, Uzodinma said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors initiative is helping bridge the gap between government policies and grassroots engagement. Former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari added that reform-driven leadership often faces resistance but ultimately produces long-term benefits.
