Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to embrace peace, unity and mutual understanding as the country gradually approaches another political season.
Shettima made the appeal on Wednesday shortly after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Ramat Square Eid Ground in Maiduguri.
The Vice President stressed the need for political maturity, tolerance and restraint among political actors and citizens during the evolving political climate.
“Our message to Nigerians is to continue praying for peace and for mutual understanding amongst all Nigerians,” Shettima said.
“And as we enter the political phase, there is a need for maturity, forbearance, and generosity of spirit in our political interactions.”
He urged political leaders across the country to place national interest above personal ambitions and partisan considerations, noting that unity and peaceful coexistence remain essential for sustaining Nigeria’s democracy and development goals.
Shettima also appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu, assuring citizens that the government remained committed to promoting peace, stability and economic prosperity.
According to him, the administration is focused on implementing policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians and strengthening national cohesion.
“I call on Nigerians to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We remain committed to building a more peaceful and prosperous nation for all Nigerians,” the Vice President added.
