Kwankwaso: Tinubu was left astonished by Ganduje’s management of Kano

Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former senator, shared a detailed account of
his meeting with President Bola Tinubu, revealing the shock expressed by Tinubu
upon learning about Abdullahi Ganduje’s management of Kano State during his
tenure as governor.

It was reported that Ganduje had made a statement implying that
he would have physically confronted Kwankwaso over the demolition of certain
properties carried out by Abba Yusuf, the current governor of Kano. Yusuf had
accused Ganduje’s administration of illegally allocating public lands for the
construction of these properties.

After their meeting at the Presidential Villa, Kwankwaso spoke
with reporters and criticized Ganduje’s actions, particularly regarding the
illegal construction of shops. He expressed that President Tinubu was equally
astounded by the revelations.

Kwankwaso highlighted the alarming instances of demolitions
carried out under Ganduje’s administration, including the destruction of a
university known as Daula Hotel. The hotel had served as a faculty under the
University of Science and Technology. Kwankwaso’s comments were directed at
those familiar with Kano, emphasizing that the university was entirely
demolished, leaving no trace behind.

Continuing his criticism, Kwankwaso questioned the president,
asking if he too was not shocked by these incidents. He mentioned that Tinubu
had expressed his concern and had even requested someone to verify the information.
Kwankwaso then reminded the president of his Muslim faith and the upcoming
Sallah celebration, wondering how Tinubu could pray at a place that had been
subjected to such circumstances. He also raised the issue of the Triumph place,
addressing the journalists present, and urged them to feel aggrieved as it
affected their constituency. Kwankwaso pointed out that Ganduje had completely
demolished the Triumph place and replaced it with shops.

Kwankwaso further asserted that Governor Yusuf would not permit
the sale of government property to the public. He recalled his presidential
campaign in which he had highlighted the encroachment on various educational
institutions in Kano. He stated that it was their policy to reclaim all the
encroached lands and ensure that they were returned to their intended purpose.
He emphasized that neither local government chairmen nor governors would be
allowed to sell these properties.

In conclusion, Kwankwaso’s detailed account of his meeting with
President Tinubu shed light on the shocking mismanagement and demolitions
carried out during Ganduje’s tenure as governor of Kano. His remarks
underscored the need to protect public properties and prevent their
unauthorized sale.
