In the midst of swirling rumors
that Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice President, had rejected a
female
Aide-De-Camp (ADC) assigned to her, Ameen Amshi, a former aspirant for the post
of the national youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stepped
forward to provide a detailed explanation.
The news report had gained
traction on social media, alleging that the vice president’s wife had refused
the services of the orderly, citing the individual’s beauty and single status
as reasons. However, the exact timing of the lady’s assignment to the vice
president’s wife could not be confirmed by our correspondent.
Responding to these claims, Amshi
took to Twitter on a Sunday, sharing a statement to clarify the situation. He
explained that Nana had declined the services of the orderly not because of her
appearance or relationship status but because she preferred her former ADC, who
had served her during her husband’s tenure as the Governor of Borno State.
Amshi emphasized that the news
circulating on social media was inaccurate and needed correction. He shed light
on the process of assigning security details or aides to VIPs, which involves
careful selection, scrutiny of service records, and the presentation of at
least three competent personnel. The final candidate, upon approval from the
VVIP/VIP, is officially assigned to the individual.
Highlighting Nana Shettima’s
experience in the corridors of power, Amshi noted that she had previously
worked with an ADC during her eight-year tenure as the governor’s wife in
Borno. Consequently, the same ADC who had served her in Borno was present at
her recent inauguration.
Amshi emphasized the Shettima
family’s commitment to maintaining long-term relationships with their staff, as
evidenced by their retention of security details that had served the Vice
President when he was Governor. Given this track record, it was highly unlikely
that Nana would act differently, as she consistently prioritized following due
process in her official dealings, including the assignment of security
personnel to VIPs and VVIPs.
In conclusion, Amshi’s statement
aimed to correct the misinformation surrounding Nana Shettima’s alleged
rejection of a female police ADC, clarifying that the decision was based on her
preference for her former ADC and her commitment to adhering to due process in
official matters.
