Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, along with
former Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and
former Governor James Ibori of
Delta State, recently visited President Bola Tinubu. The purpose of their
meeting was to express their support for the current administration.
During the meeting, the topic of subsidy removal
came up, and Governor Makinde acknowledged that it was a difficult decision.
However, he commended the President for starting on the right path. He called
on the citizens to support the policy, recognizing that it was a matter of
public discussion and that the President needed everyone’s backing to implement
it successfully.
When asked about their presence at the
Presidential Villa, Governor Makinde explained that their visit was to convey
to President Tinubu that he had made a good start and that he enjoyed the
support of the majority of the people. It was an affirmation of their belief in
his leadership and a show of solidarity.
Wike also commented on the subsidy removal,
stating that it was not a big deal. He echoed Governor Makinde’s sentiments,
emphasizing that they were there to support the President’s decisions.
According to him, making tough choices is necessary for a country to progress.
The trio
arrived at the Presidential Villa promptly at 4:20 pm and concluded
their meeting at 7:00 pm, after conveying their support and discussing the
subsidy issue with President Tinubu.
