A serious incident has shaken the
community of Igbokoda in Ondo State, as police operatives have
launched a
manhunt for a commercial motorcyclist who allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl.
The suspect’s identity has not yet been ascertained, but the authorities are
determined to bring him to justice for his heinous crime. Igbokoda, the

According to sources familiar
with the case, the suspect reportedly lured the young girl into an abandoned
building after enticing her while she was selling puff-puff, a popular snack in
the area. Once inside the desolate structure, he forcefully violated the girl,
who is a primary five student. The details of the assault are horrifying, and

In the aftermath of the incident,
it was reported that the suspect, believed to be a native of Kebbi State, went
into hiding and eventually left the state to evade capture. However, the
dedicated team of detectives assigned to the case has been relentlessly
pursuing the fugitive. Their efforts have led them to track the suspect to
Kebbi State, where he is believed to be hiding. The authorities are sparing no
effort to bring him back to Ondo State to face the consequences of his actions.
The victim’s mother, identified
as Joy, spoke about the traumatic ordeal her daughter went through. She
revealed that the incident occurred on May 19, 2023, just a few minutes before
7 p.m. When her daughter returned home, Joy immediately sensed that something
was terribly wrong. The girl appeared exhausted and drained, clearly indicating
that something distressing had transpired. As her daughter tried to explain
what had happened, she suddenly fainted. Thankfully, she was revived at the
hospital, but the psychological and emotional scars from the assault will
undoubtedly take time to heal.
Confirming the occurrence,
Olufumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the state police spokeswoman, expressed the
command’s commitment to pursuing justice for the young victim. The police have
taken the matter seriously and have initiated an intensive search for the
suspect. Their efforts, coupled with the support of the community, will
hopefully lead to the swift apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrator.
