The North Central Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, cautioning him against utilizing his current position for potential moves toward his presidential ambitions in 2027.
Saleh Zazzaga, Chairman of the North Central Forum, conveyed this message during an emergency meeting held in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, over the weekend. The meeting aimed to assess and evaluate the election tribunal judgment within the state.
Zazzaga asserted that the former Governor of Rivers State continues to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in various activities and endeavors, particularly in post-election legal cases. He called on Wike to transparently declare his allegiance to a political party, emphasizing that any actions contrary to the interests of the APC would result in multiple consequences, including potential legal action.
Zazzaga stated, “We have received reports indicating that some appointive officeholders, such as Wike, are engaged in dual-party politics. While holding an appointive position within the APC, he remains a member of the PDP. We have observed his continued support for the PDP in numerous endeavors, particularly in post-election legal cases.”
“It is imperative that Wike openly declares his true political affiliation. Failure to do so, if his actions contradict the interests of the APC, may lead to various repercussions, including legal action,” Zazzaga added.
Highlighting Wike’s legal background and reputation for vigorously participating in political-legal battles, Zazzaga urged him to actively support and strategize for the success of APC candidates in the courts, particularly in the North-Central Region, which encompasses the FCT.
Zazzaga also advised Wike to exercise caution in his policies regarding FCT demolition, land revocation, and other administrative decisions, given that the North Central region would be the first to bear the brunt of any adverse consequences arising from such actions.
The North Central APC leader expressed concern about the challenges the region already faces, including security issues, and stressed the importance of avoiding further exacerbation.
Furthermore, Zazzaga called on all APC leaders, supporters, and members to rally behind the party’s candidates involved in post-election legal proceedings. He also encouraged Nigerians at large to support key figures within the APC, such as George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and all ministers and appointees, to enable them to excel in their roles and deliver the benefits of democracy to the nation.
