The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, issued a stark warning to the Nigerian populace regarding a fraudulent online portal devised to deceive and scam individuals. Dr. Edu emphasized in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja that the “FG Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation Trust Fund Registration Portal” is entirely spurious and not endorsed by the ministry or any other government agency.
“The said portal is fake, created by unscrupulous individuals with the sole intent of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public,” Dr. Edu asserted.
She emphasized that neither the ministry, government departments, agencies, nor their associates would ever require the public to apply through any such portal to access funds from the humanitarian and poverty alleviation trust fund. The minister strongly advised the general public to disregard and steer clear of the link that is being circulated.
Dr. Betta Edu’s announcement serves as a cautionary alert, aiming to protect citizens from falling victim to the false claims and deceitful practices carried out by these unauthorized elements attempting to exploit people’s trust for their selfish gains. It’s a crucial step to prevent unsuspecting individuals from becoming prey to fraudulent activities and scams.
