
In a remarkable display of legislative support for education, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, alongside distinguished members of the 10th Senate, including Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, gathered on Tuesday for the eighth edition of the 2023 National Quiz Competition hosted by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS). The prestigious event unfolded at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, featuring schools from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the six geopolitical zones of the country.
During the ceremony, Senate President Akpabio expressed commendation for NILDS, acknowledging their role in broadening students’ understanding of legislative history, procedures, and practices. This initiative, he noted, significantly contributes to fostering a deeper comprehension of civic and democratic governance among the youth.
A highlight of the competition was the presentation of grand prizes to the first runner-up by Senate President Akpabio, underscoring the commitment of the legislative body to recognize and reward academic excellence. In a supportive gesture, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan presented consolation prizes to students in another category, encouraging them to persevere in their studies through hard work and unwavering determination.
The event drew the participation of other distinguished senators, including Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin, Senator Seriake Dickson, and Senator Ireti Kingibe, among other notable figures. The National Quiz Competition, an annual affair, not only celebrates scholastic achievement but also serves as a platform to inspire and motivate students across diverse regions of the country.”
