In a significant development, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has been granted bail by the Abuja High Court in Maitama. Justice Hamza Muazu presided over the ruling, setting the bail amount at N300 million. The court directed Emefiele to provide two sureties, both residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with landed property in the Maitama District. The court has scheduled a full-blown hearing on the six-count charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against the former CBN boss, commencing on November 28. Emefiele had previously been instructed to surrender all his travel documents.
