In a surprising turn of events, heavyweight contender Jarrell Miller is eyeing a face-off with Anthony Joshua in 2024, with the hope that it could mark the end of Joshua’s illustrious career. Joshua, who recently announced his return to the ring on December 23 in Saudi Arabia, was initially expected to face Deontay Wilder, but both fighters will now make their comebacks on the same night.
The main event on December 23 will feature Joshua taking on Otto Wallin, while the co-main event will showcase Deontay Wilder against former champion Joseph Parker. Amidst the attention on these marquee matchups, Jarrell Miller is also set to make his return, eager to establish his presence in the heavyweight division after a prolonged absence due to previous drug test failures, including a notable one ahead of a scheduled 2019 bout against Joshua.
In an interview with TalkSport, Miller expressed his immediate focus on defeating Daniel Dubois, scheduled for February 13 on the Usyk vs. Tyson Fury card. Following this bout, Miller aims to secure a title fight, preferably against Mahmoud Charr. However, if the Charr fight doesn’t materialize, Miller openly stated his desire to face Anthony Joshua with the intention of retiring the British-Nigerian boxer.
While both Joshua and Miller are locked in for their respective fights on December 23, the potential clash in 2024 remains a topic of interest. Joshua has been engaged in negotiations with Deontay Wilder throughout the year, but discussions for a December showdown between the two fell through, leading to separate bookings for their upcoming fights.
