
In the recently released 2024 Appropriation Bill, the Federal Government has designated a total of N460,217,071 for the State House’s “Materials and Supplies” category. The breakdown includes a substantial allocation of N253,277,638 specifically for foodstuffs and catering materials.
The comprehensive list under this subhead covers a range of items such as office stationeries and computer consumables (N66,719,333), books (N6,427,173), newspapers (N21,296,484), magazines and periodicals (N3,379,524), printing of non-security documents (N24,303,149), and printing of security documents (N11,349,170). Additionally, N63,882,198 is allocated for drugs and medical supplies, N9,582,402 for uniforms and other clothing, and the significant sum of N253,277,638 for foodstuffs and catering materials.
President Bola Tinubu presented the budget, titled “Budget of Renewed Hope,” to a joint session of the National Assembly on November 29. The allocation for State House utilities, including electricity and internet access charges, stands at N372 million. This comprises N260.8 million for electricity bills and N50 million for internet access charges.
Further breakdowns in utility expenses include N4.4 million for telephone charges, N30 million for water rates, and N26 million for sewerage charges. Notably, the budget for the State House also outlines N217 million for fuel and lubricants. Within this category, N148 million is allocated for motor vehicle fuel costs, N37 million for plant/generator fuel costs, and N31 million for cooking gas.
