Nigeria’s political landscape witnessed a significant exit as the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, announced his decision to retire from active politics. Speaking in Lafia during the presentation and launch of a book titled ‘Progressive Governance: Showcasing the Achievements of His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State 2019 – 2023,’ authored by Abdullahi Tanimu, Adamu cited developing allergies for political activities as the reason for his departure.
The book, consisting of 230 pages and 23 chapters, highlights the accomplishments of Governor Abdullahi Sule since assuming office, receiving commendation from the first civilian governor of Nasarawa State. Adamu praised the governor for building upon the achievements of his predecessors and urged residents to support and pray for the continued success of the governor and his cabinet.
Expressing his decision to step back from politics, Adamu stated, “I am not only a retiree but I am out of politics. I’m beginning to develop little allergies for political activities now and political speeches.” He further launched 20 copies of the book, contributing one million naira to encourage the author.
Senator Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, applauded Governor Sule for attracting notable investors to the state, foreseeing potential employment opportunities and revenue boost with the operation of these companies.
Governor Abdullahi Sule, appreciating the recognition in the book, outlined plans for infrastructure development, including 15 kilometers of road in each of the 13 Local Government Areas. He disclosed the payment of counterpart funds for 2023 to the Universal Basic Education Commission, leading to the construction of over 140 schools.
Author Abdullahi Tanimu, inspired by the governor’s inclusive leadership, emphasized the need to document and share the impactful work, traveling across the state to capture images and engage with communities benefitting from the projects.
