Houston, Texas – In a tragic turn of events, Beyoncé’s childhood home succumbed to a fire on Christmas Day. The incident occurred in the Third Ward neighborhood on the 2400 block of Rosedale Street, with firefighters from Houston responding promptly to the raging blaze, as reported by local station KIAH.
According to sources, the firefighters managed to largely control the flames within 10 minutes of their arrival, demonstrating swift action in containing the fire. The occupants of the two-story home, a couple and their two children, were present during the incident but fortunately emerged unharmed.
The cause of the fire that engulfed the Knowles family home is not immediately apparent, leaving investigators to determine the origins of the blaze. December, being the holiday season, is statistically recognized as the leading month for residential fires in the U.S., as noted by the National Fire Protection Association.
The Knowles family, including Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, who grew up to become an international pop sensation and the most decorated artist in Grammy history, purchased the Houston home in 1981 for $64,000, according to TMZ. They vacated the three-bedroom house in 1986 after the arrival of Beyoncé’s sibling, Solange Piaget Knowles, also a Grammy-winning recording artist.
The house, which boasts a spiral staircase, three bathrooms, and an office, holds sentimental value as the childhood residence of the renowned musical artists. Last year, TMZ reported that a buyer acquired the 8,640-square-foot lot adjacent to the house for $310,000.
Beyoncé recently concluded her 39-city Renaissance World Tour with two performances in Houston in September, grossing an impressive $579 million. The celebrated “Crazy in Love” singer set a new record at this year’s Grammy Awards by securing her 32nd Grammy, making her the artist with the most wins in the award’s history.
