Plateau Village Faces Ongoing Horror with New Threat of Fresh Attack

In the aftermath of the horrifying Christmas Eve massacre that claimed the lives of at least 195 people in Plateau State, the Middle-Belt Forum (MBF) has sounded an alarm, revealing that insurgents have issued a fresh threat to Pushit community in Mangu Local Government Area (LGA). The revelation comes amid widespread outrage over the earlier massacre, where none of the perpetrators have been apprehended.

MBF Deputy National President, Stanley Kavwam, disclosed the imminent danger during an interview on Arise TV. According to Kavwam, terrorists are reportedly planning to launch an attack on Pushit community today, December 29. He revealed that anonymous individuals had dropped letters indicating previous attacks on Mangu LGA, heightening concerns about the region’s security.

The United Nations, the Northern Caucus of the House of Representatives, and Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda have joined the chorus of voices calling for a thorough investigation and probe into the recent attacks. The national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Oke, urged President Bola Tinubu to deploy the full force of federal might to end the prevailing insecurity, particularly in Plateau State. Oke emphasized that the restoration of peace in the state could no longer be delayed.

Prophet Isa El-Buba, the convener of the Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN), urged President Buhari to interrupt his holidays in Lagos and address the security crisis. El-Buba specifically called for the submission of a comprehensive bill for state policing to the National Assembly. Simultaneously, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim advocated for security reforms to address the alarming state of insecurity.

Recounting the recent attacks, where 25 Plateau communities were targeted, resulting in the death of 195 people, injuries to over 3,000 individuals, displacement of 10,000 residents, and the destruction of 1,290 houses, Kavwam claimed that the military was aware of the identity of the attackers and their hideouts. He further stated that some communities were still under threat, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the escalating crisis.

“While I was driving down from Jos to this place, I received a call. A letter was sent to my own village by the terrorists that the attackers were going to invade on December 29,” Kavwam disclosed, underscoring the immediate need for comprehensive action to prevent further loss of life and restore security to the affected regions.
