
In a reaffirmation of the Federal Government’s support for the Nigerian national football team, Vice President Kashim Shettima has pledged rewards for the Super Eagles following their stellar performance in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The Vice President met with the victorious Super Eagles in the dressing room after their triumph over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Wednesday night at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake. Expressing admiration for their dedication and resilience, Shettima assured the players and officials of the government’s pride in their achievement.
In a statement released by the Super Eagles on their official X account on Thursday, it was disclosed that Vice President Shettima, accompanied by Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State, Minister for Youths Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, oil magnate Wale Tinubu, FIFA Council member Amaju Pinnick, and NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, conveyed the government’s appreciation directly to the team.
“The Federal Government has promised to reward the Super Eagles for their commitment and dedication in reaching the final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire,” the statement read.
With the Super Eagles set to clash with host nation Ivory Coast in the final showdown on Sunday, anticipation is high for a thrilling contest as Nigeria aims to secure the coveted AFCON title.
