
The Federal Government has taken decisive action against alleged perpetrators of a $6.2 million theft from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), declaring CBN staff Odoh Ocheme, along with two others, wanted for purportedly forging the signature of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a letter addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police by the office of the CBN’s special investigator, Ocheme, alongside Adamu Abubakar and Imam Abubakar, stand accused of conspiring and fabricating documents in Buhari’s name to pilfer $6,230,000 from the CBN’s coffers.
The missive, signed by Head of Operation at the Office of Special Investigator, Deputy Commissioner of Police Eloho Okpoziakpo, stated: “The Special Investigator…kindly requests you to place the above-named individuals on INTERPOL red notice. Mr. Odoh Ocheme…and the other two accomplices…were discovered to have conspired and forged documents in the name of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria with which they stole about US$6,230,000 in cash from the coffers of the CBN.”
Following this revelation, warrants of arrest have been issued by the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja Division, with the special investigator urging the INTERPOL to assist in apprehending and repatriating the suspects.
Additionally, the FG has filed a six-count charge against Ocheme and his alleged accomplices.
