In a recent development, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended and detained Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, for purportedly engaging in acts of naira abuse, spraying of naira notes, and currency mutilation.
The controversial cross-dresser, who has been at the center of various controversies in recent times, was apprehended on Wednesday night in Lagos. He is currently being held at the Lagos Command of the EFCC.
Confirming the arrest, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated in a telephone interview on Thursday that Bobrisky would face charges in court. Oyewale emphasized the commission’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the Nigerian currency.
“Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos and is currently at our Lagos command. We apprehended him for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of naira notes, and currency mutilation, among other offenses,” Oyewale said.
While the investigation into the matter is ongoing, the EFCC spokesperson assured that Bobrisky would soon be arraigned in court. The commission remains steadfast in its resolve to preserve the sanctity of the Nigerian currency and ensure adherence to relevant laws governing its usage and handling.
