The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken decisive action against Dex Luxury Bar Soap, originating from Turkey, due to its non-compliance with Cosmetic Products Regulation. NAFDAC highlighted the presence of Butyphenyl Methylpropional, a banned substance known to pose health risks, prompting the ban on the product bearing barcode number 8694965531.
While the soap is not registered in the NAFDAC database, the agency has issued a stern warning to stakeholders, including importers, distributors, retailers, and consumers, stressing the need for vigilance in verifying product authenticity. Consumers are advised to cease the use of the banned soap and submit any remaining stocks to the nearest NAFDAC office for disposal.
In a separate development, NAFDAC has sounded the alarm on counterfeit Tandak injection powder, originating from India, following its discovery in Gombe State. Manufactured by Intracin Pharmaceuticals in Gujarat, India, the counterfeit product poses serious health hazards.
To aid in identifying the counterfeit product, NAFDAC has provided specific identifiers such as batch numbers, expiration dates, and hologram presence. The agency has urged stakeholders to exercise caution within the supply chain to prevent the circulation of counterfeit products. Importers, distributors, retailers, healthcare professionals, and caregivers are encouraged to report any suspicious cases to NAFDAC promptly.
Furthermore, NAFDAC emphasizes the importance of obtaining medical products from authorized suppliers and advises consumers to report any adverse effects related to the use of medicinal products through its reporting platforms.
