SENATE Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), representing Benue South, has made a fervent plea for an immediate cessation of the ongoing killings in parts of the senatorial district attributed to suspected herdsmen.
Expressing deep concern over the escalating violence, Senator Moro called upon both the federal and state governments to take urgent measures to quell the barbaric acts before they escalate further. He stressed that the patience of the affected communities, who have long awaited government intervention, is wearing thin.
Communities in Apa, Agatu, and Otukpo Local Government Areas (LGAs) have borne the brunt of relentless attacks by marauding herders, resulting in widespread loss of lives and property.
In a statement released by his Media Adviser, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, Senator Moro emphasized the urgent need for assistance to the affected populace. He warned that if immediate aid is not forthcoming, the victims may be compelled to resort to self-help measures.
The Minority Leader condemned in the strongest terms the recent wave of violence, particularly the tragic incidents in Ogbaulu Community, Agatu LGA, where innocent villagers were ruthlessly murdered on their farms.
Senator Moro decried the unprovoked attacks and called on law enforcement agencies to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face justice for their heinous crimes. He emphasized that such acts of violence cannot be tolerated and urged security agents to intensify efforts to restore peace and security in the region.
