During a celebration marking his 53rd birthday in Bende, Abia State, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu is responsible for Nigeria’s current economic challenges.
Speaking at the event attended by a large crowd, Kalu emphasized that the country’s economic difficulties stem from past administrations’ mismanagement, which President Tinubu is striving to rectify. He urged Nigerians to be patient and support the president’s efforts, noting that his policies are beginning to yield positive results.
Kalu expressed optimism about the nation’s future, urging citizens not to lose hope but to trust in the current leadership. He emphasized the importance of caring for the less privileged and marginalized members of society, underscoring the need for compassion and solidarity.
Regarding defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kalu attributed the trend to President Tinubu’s favorable stance toward the South East region. He highlighted Tinubu’s role in ensuring equity and fairness in political representation, which has resonated with many Abians.
The birthday celebration, attended by indigent individuals, political figures, and representatives from various parties, featured the distribution of food and palliatives to the needy. Kalu pledged continued support for vulnerable groups, promising to be a father figure to orphanage residents and marginalized communities.
