Emeka Okonkwo, also known as E-Money and CEO of Emy Cargo and Shipping Services Limited, is currently under investigation at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon. The investigation stems from a reported N1,209,200,000 dispute with Autocorp Limited, a vehicle dealing company in Lagos State.
According to a police source familiar with the case, Okonkwo and the aggrieved party have been summoned for questioning, with further meetings scheduled to address the matter.
The dispute revolves around a contract between Autocorp Limited and Okonkwo’s company to clear eight vehicles in 2020/2021. Patricia Iduwre, the sales manager for Autocorp Limited, revealed that despite Okonkwo clearing the vehicles, they have not been delivered to the company. Okonkwo allegedly claimed to have sold the vehicles due to an outstanding debt, a claim disputed by Autocorp Limited.
In response, Autocorp Limited’s lawyer, Raymond Olaiya, submitted a petition to the FCID, describing the dispute as involving “stealing, fraudulent conversion, and criminal sale.” The petition urged the authorities to intervene and bring Okonkwo to justice.
When contacted, Okonkwo denied the allegations, stating that there was a legitimate business transaction between both parties. However, he confirmed his willingness to address the issue in person.
Aminat Mayegun, spokesperson for the FCID Annex, Alagbon, confirmed that Okonkwo is under investigation for conversion-related charges. She stated that both parties have been summoned for further discussions, emphasizing that the case remains under investigation.
