Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed concerns over irregularities in court proceedings regarding the reinstatement of His Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II. The Governor announced his intention to bring these issues before the Nigeria Governors Forum for resolution.
Governor Yusuf highlighted the unusual circumstances surrounding a court injunction issued at 2 a.m., just hours after he had signed the reinstatement law. He noted that the judge who granted the injunction was in the United States at the time and had issued the order online.
“I signed the law a few minutes past 5 p.m., and by 2 a.m., there was a court injunction. The judge who gave the order was in America but issued it online for Kano,” Yusuf said.
He emphasized the importance of lawmakers adhering to legal procedures, stating, “It is compulsory for lawmakers to also abide by the law. We followed due process and did everything openly before everybody.”
Governor Yusuf expressed his intention to present these anomalies to the Nigeria Governors Forum to ensure such issues are properly addressed. “I will table this kind of abnormality before the Nigeria Governors Forum so that we can tackle it accordingly,” he declared.
The Governor’s remarks underscore the ongoing legal and political complexities surrounding the reinstatement of HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, highlighting the need for adherence to proper legal protocols and transparency in governance.
