Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has issued a rallying call for Nigerians to confront the growing issues of insecurity and economic hardship plaguing the country. Highlighting recent kidnappings, including the abduction of medical students in Benue State and an Anambra State Commissioner and his wife in Edo State, Obi emphasized the urgent need for collective action.
In a statement posted on X.com, Obi expressed his concern over the worsening state of security and the economy, stating, “We must declare war on this massive insecurity and other ills that threaten our society.” He stressed the importance of a united front in addressing these challenges and called for bold actions to create a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.
The former governor of Anambra State pointed out that the current situation, where kidnappings and other forms of violence are becoming increasingly common, cannot continue. He urged all Nigerians to work together to build a just society where security and economic stability are guaranteed for all.
The call comes in the wake of reports that over 20 medical and dental students were kidnapped in Benue State, as well as the abduction of the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development and his wife in Edo State. These incidents have sparked widespread concern and underscore the pressing need for effective measures to combat insecurity and economic difficulties in the country.
